There are a number of words to describe Dimitar Berbatov: silky, sublime, exasperating and idle.
For the past three seasons, the Bulgarian has astonished Manchester United fans with his unique skills and work-shy nature in equal measures.
But time may be up on Berbatov’s topsy-turvy United career after his surprise omission from Saturday’s Champions League squad.
Although nothing is set in stone yet, should he leave Old Trafford, where will he go next?
Destination
At 30 years old, Berba doesn’t have time to wait around if Sir Alex Ferguson decides he is surplus to requirements. Ferguson will have to go some distance however to recoup the majority of his £30m price tag United paid in summer 2008.
It was his supreme skills, goals scoring prowess and dominating displays at White Hart Lane that persuaded Ferguson to shell out such an extortionate sum.
But could his next destination be Arsenal? The Gunners are in the hunt for a new striker so could the Bulgarian swap Old Trafford for the Emirates?
He’d certainly fit Arsenal’s slow, probing style of play. Berbatov has proven to be too slow for Man United’s pacey, direct approach and games seem to pass him by more often than not.
Ungrateful
Despite scoring 21 goals last season (including 5 against Blackburn), he was missing for a majority of games when he wasn’t scoring.
Simply put, he isn’t a player who wants to run all over the field like Rooney therefore has failed to adhere himself to United’s demanding fans. He likes to play the target man and bring others into play.
Arsenal have failed to find a striker who can link up the play between midfield and attack and also, more importantly, pop up with crucial goals.
His strength and awareness outweighs that of Bendtner and Chamakh, whilst his ability to bamboozle defenders with an array of skills that even Messi doesn’t have in his locker.
It’s not hard to imagine him spearheading Arsenal’s attack in tandem with Van Persie, Nasri, Fabregas and Walcott.
More importantly is his propensity to pop up with crucial goals at the death. How many points did he win Man United last season with last minute strikes?
Chances
Price tag, age and salary will more than likely put Arsène Wenger off and with more pressing concerns in defence, he is likely to be the last thing on the Frenchman’s mind.
But if he is available for around mere £8-10m, wouldn’t it be worth a punt?
100% Yes. Proven Premier League quality, Him a RVP upfront? and we switch back to the famous and successful Arsenal 4-4-2 formation, Yes Please!
I like berbatov style of play, he is not lazy at all, he is smooth and elegant, much like the difference between watching Eastern gymnastic contestants and European ones.
To Arsenal? Could be a good one i think. ManU would not sell him to us though.

I DONT THINK I WOULD FORGIVE WENGER FOR SIGNING BERBATOV……. I SERIOUSLY WOULDN,T I REALLY DONT THINK HE IS THAT GOOD OF A PLAYER AND IS NOT WHAT ARSENAL NEED TO WIN THE BPL
Berba is a better player than Bendtner. AW would do well if he could somehow sell Bendtner get Berba and still have change to spare on another budding spanish star, tough ask but I dont put pass AW we know how he can stretch a pound/euro/
think berba would be a great buy……………………..gunners fans would get used to him ex-spurs or not………sol campbell pat jennings……i rest my case……………..if Arsene sells bentner and replaces with Berba with Van Persie and Chamakh and Walcott……..what a great set of strikers, ok they cant all play at once but u only need one injury and we are scuppered…………………….sell Vela as well not up to standard in my opinion
