Disheartening, Depressing, Enlightening
To be brutally honest, this is the first time in about six or seven years, with the new season about to start, that I actually have some real optimism.
Wenger’s decline was disheartening.
Unai’s one and a half years were depressing.
Arteta’s 6 months have been enlightening.
It helps that Saturday’s kick off is a 9.30 pm AEST, so I can go to the pub and watch at sensible (for Australia) time, but I have real belief in the man and the process.
THE CASE FOR THE DEFENCE
We have 3 of the best young full backs / wing backs in the country (I’m including AMN in that) as well as cover a plenty in Cedric & Saka. And finally, after 10 years of neglect, we a young (excluding Luiz) central defence, worthy of wearing the cannon.
TWO PLUS ONE (or 2) TO COME?
Dani rejoining was a must, as his partnership with Granit is the rock the team can be built upon. Partey / Aouar / a.n.other just needs to be finalised to give the depth we need to push on.
COME IN NUMBER 10
The missing piece of the puzzle, either Willian & Saka do shifts or Mikel pulls a rabbit out of the hat in the next few weeks (or Ozil pulls his finger out of his arse ?!?!)
14 ALWAYS FORWARD
Auba, sign da thing and put us out of our misery
RED BULL GIVES YOU WINGS
Pepe, William, Saka, Nelson, Gabi, the choice is endless
HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE?
By the end of the window, we should have 2 quality players for each position, which is something we haven’t been able to say since The Invincibles.
YOU CANT WIN ANYTHING WITH KIDS?
You can and the kids coming through will prove this.

VICTORY THROUGH HARMONY
The age of discontent has past, no more ‘5 captains’, no more bitching, no more lack of leadership from the top. Mikel has the teams full respect and they hang on his every word
Now I’m not saying we will win or even be in the dog fight for the top spot, but a top four finish would be a good place to start.
