Cristian Pavon is a 21-year-old footballer from Anisacate, Córdoba, Argentina. He is the current right wing of Boca Juniors. He is rumoured to have attracted the interest of Arsenal. I am going to show his career and progress.
He started in the U20 Talleres football team in 2004 until 2012 when he signed his first professional contract with the team.
He made his professional debut in 2013, when only 16 years old, in a match between Talleres and Villa San Carlos in the Argentinian Second Division. He played 19 games with 14 being in the starting squad and scored 4 goals.
In 2014, Pavon joined Boca Juniors for 1.3m USD to be loaned to Colon de Santa Fe, also in the second Division where he featured in 20 matches, starting 11 and scoring 5 goals.
He returned from Colon to Boca in 2015 and since then he stayed. He suffered an injury and was 2 months out in the 2015/16 season.
In that season (2015/16) he played 18 games in the combining League, League cup (like an Argentinian FA Cup) in which Boca were runners-up) and Copa Libertadores, with 11 being in the starting squad and scored 5 goals.
In the next season (2016/17) he became one of the stars of the team due to his performances. Combining League, League Cup and Copa Libertadores he played 41 games, all of which he started and he notched 12 goals. (That is a very big number considering that Argentine football is very tight)
In the current season he has played 12 games only in the League, starting in all of them, and has scored 3 goals.
Way of playing
Pavon is the right wing of Boca Juniors. He is a very fast player, he dominates the ball in an impressive way and is effective in the air given that he is only 1.68 m.
He progressed a lot, after he was really criticized due to his bad decisions during important games but he has started to mature.
Strengths : Air game, speed, scorer, assists well in defence and is a footballer who maintains his energy for the duration of matches.
Weaknesses: he is known to often make bad decisions, sometimes he sticks to the ball and just runs without giving a pass.
It would be an amazing piece of business for Arsenal on the way to replacing Alexis Sanchez.
