In 2007, you may remember Arsenal signed a Brazilian youngster named Pedro Botelho. The defender was quickly shipped out on loan [due to work permit issues] to Spanish Segunda division side, Salamanca where he enjoyed a prosperous season in their first-team.
The following year he joined Celta Vigo in the same league, followed by a third spell in Spain (2010/11) with Cartagena.
The Brazilian has yet to play for the Arsenal first-team as he is still unable to secure that elusive work permit, and subsequently he is now in talks to sign for a fourth Spanish side, Rayo Vallecano.
It’s thought that Wenger has told the youngster he won’t get an opportunity in the Arsenal first-team without having played top flight football first, thus a move to Vallecano would suit both parties with the outfit plying their trade in La Liga.
