In the news today:
In Arsenal midfielder, Samir Nasri the Gunners have the nucleous of their team. With Cesc Fabregas seemingly on route to Barcelona, it would be a major blow to lose their fledging Frenchman in the same transfer window.
It’s common knowledge now that Nasri is entering the final year of his contract, and could leave on a Bosman free transfer next summer. With this in mind, Wenger must decide whether the club should cash in Nasri, and look elsewhere for a replacement.
The biggest shock is that Nasri is repeatedly being linked with arch-rivals, Manchester United. Last week, French compatriot and Man. United full-back, Patrice Evra encouraged Samir to join him at United and the rumour was since laughed off; but now Nasri has even refused to rule out the deal.
Speaking to the French sports programme, Telefoot, Nasri said: “I don’t know if I will sign a new contract, the discussions are ongoing.
“Do I want to go to United? First, we should see if it’s real and concrete.”
Nasri started last season in dynamite form but fizzled out towards the end of the campaign. With a record of 27 goals in 124 appearances since joining in 2008, he would be a difficult man to replace.
