The Willock brothers are starting to make their mark on world football. We all know that Joe Willock has been making inroads into Arsenal’s first team, with a solid performance against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League fixture last Thursday. He is likely to start against Norwich in the Carabao Cup tonight.
It was his brother Chris who stole the headlines this transfer window by securing a move to Benfica.
Friends of ours at the Portuguese Club have very kindly offered to keep us updated with Chris’s progress. They sent us this video, saying:
“This Sunday, Chris Willock was in the Starting XI in Benfica B victory against União da Madeira, the club sponsored by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Museum. At half-time, Benfica’s side was losing, but a good 2nd half with some individual moves by Willock, the team turned the match around with 2 goals by Heriberto Tavares. Meanwhile, before he was substituted, the number 24 did this amazing move.”
They are obviously all very talented – when Wenger says that the next generation of Arsenal stars is among the most exciting he has ever coached, I guess that is reason for us to be excited too…
