The Wenger bus is……….parked

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have lit up the Premier League in the past decade with some of the best football ever seen on these shores, but nobody’s jumping inside the Emirates so far this term.

With two goalless draws in their first two outings in the Premiership this season, the pressure is on for Wenger and his men to start performing and picking up victories both at home and on the road.

There is no doubt the Gunners have the quality, even without old talisman Robin Van Persie or Alex Song. In Lucas Podolski and Olivier Giroud they have two strikers who can make a huge impact, but they need to be given time, and Santi Cazorla has shown glimpses of his brilliance already.

Many Arsenal fans would have been left feeling slightly deflated after transfer deadline day, with no signings brought in. Wenger hasn’t been as tight with the summer spending like past seasons though, and has a squad that will surely make a real push for the top four come May.

That may not be good enough for many associated with the North London outfit, when you think it was only eight seasons ago that an Arsenal team went unbeaten for an “invincible” season. However, every team has a transition period, and this new look side needs time to gel.

The fact is, the Emirates will see Champions’ League football again this season, and when the new players eventually adapt to English football, there are sure to be exciting times ahead for the Gunners.
